Day 792 - Last Day of Chemo!

It is a Happy New Year!  Two years and two months of chemo - DONE!  No more chemo.  Yay!!!  It feels very surreal.  We are still trying to let it sink in.  It feels as if we have been given a new lease on life - literally.  After this week, Katie will start feeling good and not be "sick" anymore.  That is so amazing!  We are so GLAD!
Katie will go to the Endocrinologist next week to determine where we will go from here with her Hypoglycemia and steroids.  We are hoping to try and wean her from the steroids as soon as possible.  Katie will also need to continue on her antibiotics for several months, as she will still be immuno compromised for the next 6 months to a year.  Katie will also go to the clinic once a month, for 6 months, for blood tests and check-ups.  After that, Katie will go to the clinic every other month, for a year and a half.  (I think it goes to a 3 month check up after that).
We are very hopeful that we are done with the cancer, and that our sweet Katie will be able to resume a full and "normal" life.  Yesterday, we ran into our little friend Ori, and it was a sad and painful reminder that the cancer can return - but we can not and will not focus on that possibility!  We feel very optimistic for Katie, and we will celebrate each day of her life that she is cancer free.  Katie is going to start feel good and strong.  She will now be free to fully enjoy and participate in life.  It is hard to remember what life without cancer/chemo is like - I know Katie doesn't remember what that is like.  This (feeling well and being well) will be new for her.  We are so excited for her - and us!  A new start - without anything holding us back.
We are so grateful for all those who have followed Katie's blog, and for all the prayers and support offered in her and our behalf!  We have been greatly blessed!  Words can not begin to express our appreciation to all our friends and family - but we hope you all know how very grateful we are!  We are especially grateful for all the blessings the Lord has bestowed upon us.  Katie's future is in the Lords hands and we put our trust in Him and in His will for her.
I am very grateful to Scott for his presence, strength, patience, support and love.  We are ready to move forward and begin our "new life".  I anticipate that this will be my last post on Katie's blog.  Thank you for following along on this journey with us!  We are so proud of our brave Katie and our sweet Conner.  They have been through so much, and they have been strong and courageous throughout these difficult years.  We love them so!  Our focus is on them, the gospel, and enjoying our time together as a family.
     New adventures await!!!.......
