Day 54

Katie has been waking up, on the average, three times a night.  Last night, it was at least six times.  Scott and I take turns with her.  Last night I asked her if she was hurting and she said "yes".  This morning I asked her if she was hurting, and she said "no".  I said, "Then why did you cry so much last night?"  In a very matter of fact voice, she said, "because I wanted you!"  I laughed...and said, "Well, that's great for you Katie, but mommy needs some sleep!"  So, I am not sure if her waking up in the night has just become a habit and she is looking for some love and comfort, or if she is hurting and looking for some love and comfort.  Probably a little of both, because when I checked on her early this morning she was clammy and it did seem like she was hurting.
It is fun to watch her try and walk.  It is a funny little walk - Scott says it is "sweet" and it is.  She doesn't have the strength to go up steps, to stand up, or reach down to pick something up, but each day she is improving.  It is hard to know that we will be going backwards again soon...but we will enjoy how it is for now!
Having looked back yesterday, I continue to feel so grateful for all the help we received during the first month and a half of Katie's treatment.  That was such a difficult time, and we were blessed with so much help from friends and family.  I am especially grateful to my family who came and helped us, and for Scott's mom who came every day (that my family wasn't here and Scott was working).  I found this scripture and when I read it, I thought they exemplified it - And for me, it is a good reminder.  1 John 4:7-11
"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
"He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
"In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
"Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another."
Again today, I am glad for all those who have loved us and served us.  Thank you for your continued prayers on our behalf!  YOU have made a difference.
