Katie has her next treatment on Thursday. We are not sure what to expect, because she has done so well so far, during this particular phase. We have been told she will start "crashing" - but so far so good! Katie went to church again today. Scott went to nursery with her. Katie was so excited to be there! It is so good to see her face light up and to see her smile her Katie smile.
C. S. Lewis said, "God made us: invented us as a man invents an engine. A car is made to run on petrol, and it won't run properly on anything else. Now God designed the human machine to run on Himself. He Himself is the fuel our spirits were designed to burn, or the food our spirits were designed to feed on, there isn't any other. That's why it's just no good asking God to make us happy in our own way without bothering about religion. God can't give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it isn't there. There's no such thing" (The Case for Christianity, [New York City; MacMillan, 1948], p.43). Sometimes, I think teenagers think they "run" on themselves...they are sure they are so much smarter and know so much more than their parents. Frustrating! Tonight I am glad teenagers grow up, and that it isn't a permanent condition. - Acutally, what I am truly glad about is the blessing of having a family. It's not always fun or easy, but family does bring JOY.
